Terms of service
Plain terms for a data service. What we publish, what we do not promise, how billing works, and what you are allowed to do with the figures.
Version 2026-09-15. Written to describe what this service actually does. When we change it we change the version date, and anyone with an account is emailed before a material change takes effect. Questions: [email protected].
Who you are dealing with
Watt Street is operated by 5arz Services LLC, 16192 Coastal Highway, Lewes, DE 19958, a Delaware limited liability company. It is the seller on every receipt, and charges appear on your card statement as 5ARZ. If that is not a name you recognise on a statement, it is us.
What the service is
We compile information that is already public — interconnection queues published by ISOs and RTOs, filings at FERC and state commissions, county and municipal records — and publish it as pages, files and an API. Some of it is free to read. Some of it sits behind a paid plan.
Every page carries the date its data was built from. Public sources change, and sometimes they change in ways we do not see for a day or more.
What it is not
Nothing here is investment, legal, engineering, real-estate or health advice, and nothing here is a property-value assessment. We publish permitted limits, measured public-record levels, distances, capacities, permit conditions and hearing dates. We do not tell you what any of it will do to you, your project or your land.
If a decision turns on a number, verify it against the primary source. We cite the source on the page for exactly that reason.
Accuracy, and what we promise about it
We check our figures against their sources, we publish a corrections log, and we correct errors in public rather than quietly. What we cannot do is warrant that every figure is complete, current or fit for your purpose — the underlying records are other organisations' and they are not uniformly reliable either. The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before it arose.
Found something wrong? Tell us — corrections are the part of this we take most seriously.
Your account
Keep your sign-in link and API keys to yourself; anything done with them is treated as done by you. One account is one person or one organisation, not a shared login sold on. Tell us promptly if you think a key has leaked and we will roll it.
Paying, renewing and cancelling
- Subscriptions are billed in advance, in US dollars, by Stripe. We never see or hold your card number.
- A subscription renews automatically on the same day each month until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time and it stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- We do not pro-rate a partial month. If something you paid for did not work, or was not what the page said it was, email us and we will refund it — we would rather return the money than argue about a month.
- If a payment fails, Stripe retries the card for about three weeks. Your access continues during that window; it ends when Stripe stops trying.
- Prices can change. An existing subscription keeps its price until we tell you otherwise by email, at least thirty days ahead.
What you may do with the data
Use it for your own work, internal or commercial. Quote it and republish figures with attribution to Watt Street and a link to the page. Put our embeds on your own site. Do not resell the data as a substitute product, and do not scrape the pages in bulk when the API exists and has a free tier — the crawler budget comes out of the same place the site does.
The underlying public records are not ours and we claim nothing over them. What we claim is the compilation, the matching and the writing.
Ending it
You can close your account whenever you like. We can suspend an account for non-payment, for abuse of the API, or for use that puts the service or other users at risk — and if we do, we will say which and give you your data.
The legal boilerplate, kept short
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware. If any part is unenforceable the rest still stands. They are the whole agreement between us about the service, and they replace anything said in a sales conversation.
